Natural gas futures rose slightly in early trade on Monday amid expectations of sporadic hail later this week, but that slight rise quickly eased.
After rising to an early high of $4.218/ mmBtu, the April NYMEX contract fell to $4.083 as of 8:41 a.m. ET, down 2.5 cents from Friday’s closing price.
The price of the current month briefly fell below $4.00 last week. However, it rebounded after government data showed a larger-than-expected 62 billion cubic feet of inventories for the week ended March 7. The April contract closed on Friday at $4.104, down 29.5 cents week-on-week.

Spark Commodities announced on Friday that shipping rates in the Atlantic basin jumped more than $6,000 over the previous week to $25,750 per day, a four-month high. In the Pacific basin, where demand is slower.

As of June 2024, LEAP can Transports 1.9 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas from the Haynesville area to Gulf Coast markets by connecting it to other pipelines in Gillis Center near Rigley, Louisiana.
Matterhorn Express pipeline
The Matterhorn Express pipeline, operated by Whitewater Midstream.
can transport up to 2.5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas from the Permian Basin to the Katy area, Texas.
Verdi Pipeline
Pecan Pipeline’s Verdi pipeline can transport up to 1.0 billion cubic feet per day of EOG Resources’ natural gas production from Webb County, Texas, in the Eagle Ford production area.
